  • Will hanging my bike damage the bike frame or forks?
Hanging a bike in Steadyrack will not cause any damage to your bike. No part of the bike frame touches the rack, only the front tire, which is cradled in the steel arms.
What is the best MTB rack for long-term mountain bike storage?
Storing your MTB vertically in our wall-mounted bike rack will keep your forks well lubricated as it allows the fluid inside to run to the seals, prolonging their use. As our bike rack holds your MTB by the tire only (it does not touch any other part of your bike), storing vertically will also protect your bike frame. By keeping your bike stored vertically and the forks lubricated, you’ll be shredding the trails harder and faster! Learn more about the benefits of vertical mountain bike storage.
Can the Steadyrack MTB rack be used for indoor, outdoor or garage storage?
Yes, our Steadyrack mountain bike racks can be used for indoor and garage storage! Storing your MTB indoors keeps it protected from the elements, and with our unique, space-saving bike racks, also opens heaps of room wherever you decide to store your bikes. Our MTB Racks are also ideal for garage storage. Their ability to pivot 160-degrees left and right means you can push your bikes close to the wall and easily park your car and fit your other belongings in the garage. Storing our MTB rack outdoors is definitely possible. To maintain the standard warranty, we recommend storing them in areas which are closed in, under cover or safe from the elements. Learn more about our standard warranty.
Are Steadyracks safe to use for bikes with hydraulic brakes/forks/suspensions?
Yes! This a common concern for many bike owners with these types of brakes and suspension. When your bike is hung up vertically, the fluid in your forks will run towards the seals and keep them lubricated. This will prolong their use, so it’s actually good for your bike and forks to hang it vertically on our bike racks. If you have hydraulic brakes on your bike, the fluid will run down when the bike is hung, so we advise pumping the brakes a few times when you take the bike off the rack if it’s been there for a while. The shocks shouldn’t leak when the bike is hung up, however if they do then it’s a good indication that the seals might need replacing. Read our blog post for more information about storing bikes with hydraulic brakes in Steadyracks.
Will 2.8 inch tires fit in the mountain bike rack or does it need the fat rack?
Some of the newer plus-size MTB tyres have extra-large shoulder lugs (tread) which take the overall width past the actual measurement marked on the sidewall. If your tyres have extra wide lugs, you can still work to our sizes for our Mountain Bike Rack, but it will be a tighter fit. This might mean you have to push it into the rack and pull harder on the bike to dislodge it when you remove it. To avoid this, we recommend sizing up to the Fat Rack. The bike will sit nicely in the rack, but the front wheel may fall to one side slightly due to the larger gap. This does not affect usability or performance and will make it very easy to unload your bike.
Can I lock my bike to a Steadyrack?
You can lock your bikes into our racks with a D Lock or Chain lock. This is sufficient to prevent opportunist theft and adequate if your bikes are stored in a private carpark. If your bikes are in a location fully accessible to the public, we recommend installing a bracket or a steel rail to the wall underneath the rack to attach a locking device to. As with everything, take caution when storing your bike in a public place, as professional thieves can generally get around any locking system.
    Do the racks swing freely?
Steadyracks are assembled using a specific tension for the nuts (torque setting = 5nm) that holds the central spine to the top and bottom mounting brackets. This setting is designed to give sufficient tension to the pivot to ensure bikes can be loaded on any angle without the rack moving around too much. When you remove the 2 plastic caps from the top and bottom, the nuts are exposed. You can loosen both nuts to free up the rack more, and equally you can tighten them to lock the rack into position. We recommend you maintain them so the racks are stiff but can still be pivoted. The rack can be quite stiff when you use it for the first few times then it loosens up a bit. This is due to the type of fiber washers we use to assist with the stiffening effect.
Can I lock my Steadyrack into one position or any angle?
It is not possible to lock the rack solid in one position. However, you can tighten the nuts so the rack will become stiff and will effectively hold it in the one position. To do this, first remove the two, plastic mounting bracket covers (End Caps). Next, tighten the two nuts that attach the central pivot bar to the mounting brackets. If you follow these steps, we recommend checking your fixings carefully and making sure they are very secure as any sideways pressure on the rack could damage the mounting bracket.

Purfect way to store our Mountain Bikes

These racks are so easy to install and a perfect way to store our mountain bikes. The only thing missing from the instructions is that you need to play loud rock music and sing along with it while you are installing the racks. It will stop the neighbor from next door coming over to tell you how to install them better.

The best Racks ever! Measure twice, drill once.

I have two Mountain Bike Racks and two Classic Racks for our bikes. After plenty of research online and looking at a mate's Steadyrack set up I took the plunge and have not regretted my decision. Our garage has a sloping floor and I am quite pedantic so I wanted them mounted at the right heights but evenly spaced. The solutions section on the Steadyrack website was a great resource as was looking at their Instagram for ideas and spacing. After lots of calculations and even laying the bikes out on the floor to play around with spacing, I ended up offsetting each rack by 25cm in height and they are 70cm apart. This gave me enough room to almost lie them all the way to the side thus saving space. The products themselves are strong and sturdy with good quality materials (though I did use my own wall plugs). I would definitely buy them again.

      Great product

We purchased the road and mountain bike racks to fit onto one wall in the garage. We staggered the racks so we could fit more into a small space. Initially made the mistake of installing the high ones too high and didn't get the benefit of rolling the bikes in. Rectified now and it's brilliant.

      Better than expected

I don't normally write reviews. This product deserves 5 stars! Quality control today is not what it used to be, but with Steadyrack it is! Amazing quality. I bought 5 and am glad that I did.

Easy to install and works exactly as promised

Easy to install, even through tile walls. Looks great, and the swinging function is a game changer in a tight space 10/10 would recomend.
